I Have Something To Share
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s twenty nine years ago. Although I suffered with horrible symptoms nine years prior to being diagnosed. I have lived one half of my life trying to deal with drugs, treatments, doctors, hospitals, and life situations.
Bowel functions are frequently topics of humor and begins at an early age, as we giggle when someone toots or their tummy growls. It’s a taboo subject among coffee clatches and teas. I grew up believing that “Ladies Don’t Pass Gas”. The joke’s on me now, I’m the one that has fought bowel incontenence for years. I’m a master of covering up my symptoms and not revealing how serious Crohn’s pain can actually be, and it’s been difficult.
People are diagnosed more and more with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) and are searching for answers. Although researchers have not found a cure, people like myself, find comfort in finding others with that common denominator. Learning how others cope, how they manage to work, and how to live through the humiliation of the disease.
As this site is a ‘work in progress’, I hope you will hang around and share your experiences and leave a comment or two. We just might be that little ray of sunshine that brightens the day of a Crohn’s patient. If you are interested in joining my list of blog authors, please email me at crohnsproof.com@gmail.com.
That being said, I want to share my Crohn’s story through the humorous situations I have found myself in. Even today, as a wife, mom, grana, and sister, I have to find new ways to get out of some miserable moments, and just go on with my life. I might as well laugh about some of them, how about you?
May God bless all IBD sufferers,
